Kingston Colts Football Club is a village club, run by parents for the enjoyment and development of its members – the children. In each age group parents act as team managers and coaches, who in turn are supported by other parents who help with marking out pitches, setting up the goal posts, acting as referees, and making teas and coffees to keep everyone warm on cold winter mornings. Everyone has a role to play.
We currently have teams from the under 6's through to under12's. Due to FA regulations only the under 9's and above can play 'competitive' football. There are training evenings for every team. Please see team details for more information. The Club currently has four coaches with Level 1 FA Coaching qualifications, with others scheduled to take part in the next locally run FA training course to be held this autumn. All team managers, coaches and members of the committee are CRB checked.
The Club is a member of the Witney and District Youth Football League, which has member teams as far apart as Buckland and Banbury, Ducklington and Deddington, Kingston Bagpuize and Kingham. Over a season the children travel the county to play away fixtures! (Being a member of a football club certainly improves your local geographical knowledge.) For the 2010/2011 season due to start in September the Club will have teams competing in league games at the Under 12, Under 11,Under 10 and Under 9 age groups.
On match days we have a shop running in the club house providing hot food (bacon rolls etc), Tea, Coffee, soft drinks and a selection of cakes. All proceeds go towards the teams.
Games usually kick off at 10:30. You are welcome to come and watch and support your local teams. There is usually plenty of car parking available but it can be busy when all teams are at home.
All matches for Under 8 and lower age groups are played on a “friendly” basis, the aim being to foster development and not competition. |
